Skin Care with Shea Butter Not Necessarily Beneficial

The benefits of skin care with shea butter have been known for years. However, just like any skin care remedy made with botanical or herbal ingredients-if they are mixed with inorganic substances like chemicals or synthetics-then side effects are very possible. The human body simply has not adapted to the rapid advances in technology that have taken place in the past 50 years or so. Chemicals and synthetic "wonder drugs" cooked up in laboratories may technically be fortified with all the vitamins and minerals necessary to make an advanced skin care product but the body may consider them to be toxins and respond accordingly.

There are a lot of skin care treatments available on the market that promise the moon but actually end up making the problem worse when they cause side effects. The body must expel all toxins from the body and part of this process involves the oxidation of oxygen. However, free radicals are produced as by-products of this process and while they are perfectly natural and necessary for normal body function-they become toxins when too many are produced. Some of the damage caused by free radicals includes:

  • Increased problems with constipation, indigestion, IBS, flatulence, and gas
  • Free radicals may become caught in arteries and help clog them leading to increased potential for heart attack and even stroke
  • Reduced vision over a long period of time
  • Increased problems with dry skin care, more wrinkles and fine lines
  • Weakened immune system

Skin care solutions made with only natural ingredients will cause far fewer problems with side effects and they should not be considered toxins by your body. However, you have to be careful because recent studies have proven that your are more likely to find an "herbal skin care product" made with toxic tagalongs and other toxins than to find one that is not. You have to make sure that all of the skin care ingredients are natural in order to avoid side effects and to restore your skin's balance internally.

The essential oils are a group of extracts derived from a variety of organic sources, such as:

  • Roots
  • Herbs
  • Flowers
  • Seeds
  • Plants

There are over 100 essential oils and many of them are found in some of the best skin care products on the market today. Even professional skin care salons and spas rely upon creams, moisturizers, and other skin care products made from the essential oils because of their healing and revitalizing ingredients. Many of the all natural skin care moisturizers and creams are made from essential oils fortified with essential fatty acids-these "good fats" help repair damage caused by free radicals.

Plus, many skin care and vitamin supplements are enriched with the essential oils because many contain antioxidants-beneficial molecules that can actually prevent free radicals from forming as well as helpful in removing other toxins from the body. Even many skin care with Shea butter products are good for you so long as they are free from chemicals but enriched with essential oils, such as:

  • Avocado oil
  • Camphor oil
  • Juniper
  • Lavender oil
