Avoid Petroleum-Based Cream Dry Skin Products

When battling dry skin, try to avoid petroleum-based cream dry skin products. They may feel great when you slather them on, but little do you know that they may not be as moisturizing as they feel. The skin is like a giant breathing organism that breathes in moisture and expels toxins, sometimes in the form of acne. If moisture gets trapped on the surface and doesn't penetrate to lower layers of the skin, it essentially is suffocating the skin and not allowing it to breath. This can result in acne, dry skin, and a number of other skin problems.

Typical petroleum-based cream dry skin products simply lie on the top layers of the skin and never penetrate to the lower levels. This may feel like they are working, but the skin needs deep moisturizing, not just surface moisturizing. Using oils that easily soak into the skin may seem less moisturizing because they are less greasy, but actually, the fact is they are more moisturizing because the skin has soaked them up the way it should. This in turn alleviates the cycle of using a product and then having to continue using it because the cause of the problem has never been addressed.

Unfortunately, products that are not natural like petroleum-based cream dry skin products; don't shy away from using chemical additives to their products either. This can result not only in irritating the skin, but some additives, like sodium lauryl sulfate actually strip the skin of its natural moisturizers. The same cream that is supposed to moisturize your hands can actually contain ingredients that strip the natural oils. The results are that you must continue to use the product repeatedly to keep a smooth and moisturized feel to the area you are treating.

Sodium lauryl sulfate is also derived from petroleum. It is a foamer that is used in many products, including skin creams, shampoos, and toothpaste. It is a known skin irritant and should be avoided if you have skin sensitivities.

If you are experiencing any of the following conditions, it's time to read the labels on your skin care products:

  • Eczema dry skin
  • Dry skin problem
  • Creams dry skin

If you want deep moisturizing and that's why you've chosen a cream dry skin, take heart. There are many natural products that use a variety of oils like almond and olive oil to help moisturize the skin. Skin So Silky uses these oils in combination with avocado and other oils, to deeply and richly moisturize very dry skin without irritating it due to harsh or irritating chemicals.
