Acne, Dry Skin, And Aging

It isn't fair that as you get older, you may end up suffering acne, dry skin and aging all at the same time. As we get older the skin loses some of its ability to regenerate itself. All the minor sins of our younger years like too much sun exposure can come back to haunt us in the premature aging of the skin. We can end up with age spots, wrinkles, and dry skin. On top of that, if you are going through menopause, the hormonal rebalancing can cause the appearance of acne. With so many more skin problems as we age, either due to improper care when younger or hormonal fluctuations when older, we have to have a good plan of attack to make sure our skin care products can handle the additional requirements of aging.

Moisturizing is probably the biggest thing you can do for your aging skin. Deep moisturizing can help relieve the appearance of fine wrinkles and relieve the symptoms of dry skin. The problem may come in when you are also suffering from acne because of hormonal fluctuations. Then, your skin care routine must be able to handle both dry and problem skin.

If you already started a skin care routine when younger, then you are way ahead of the game. You should already know that you want to cleanse, tone, and moisturize twice a day. However, the appearance of acne, dry skin, and other skin care problems may have you adding an acne spot treatment to your repertoire.
Acne, dry skin, and aging doesn't require a total revamp of your skin care routine. It just requires special attention to the products you have been using. You may need to add moisturizers with sun protection for the summer. You may need to make sure the cleanser you are using no longer is one that strips the oils from your face. This may have been helpful when you were younger and your skin was oily, but that may all change as you age.

If you do decide to use an acne spot treatment, keep in mind that popular over the counter spot treatments can be very drying to the skin. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are both potentially drying. Try to keep the application of these products to the area affected or try a different product or a different concentration that is not so drying.

As you get older, you can expect:

  • Dry skin conditions
  • Dry skin type
  • Problem dry skin

Try to be proactive and implement some products now that can help you maintain a youthful appearance longer and fight acne, dry skin. Skin So Silky has many different oils combined to deeply hydrate the skin and fight acne all in one product. Instead of buying a moisturizer and a spot treatment for your dry skin problems, using Skin So Silky's natural oils means that they are one and the same product. Try some today.
