Block Blackheads And Oily Skin
Skin produces a variety of substances on a daily basis: sweat, sebum and even dead skin cells. In an ideal situation, the amount of sebum, or oil, produced by the skin is consistent. Unfortunately, overproduction of sebum is a common skin care woe, leaving a shiny layer of oil on the skin and, under the right circumstances, a blackhead.
For very oily, acne-prone skin, a second application of beta-hydroxy (BHA), or salicylic acid, can greatly improve the appearance of blackheads, as well as reduce their occurrence. Because salicylic acid is an exfoliating agent, overuse can cause the skin to become dry or flaky. However, salicylic acid also works best when used regularly, so don’t give up! Instead, alternate how often these products are used, switching to once a day or every other day.
As annoying as blackheads can be, they aren’t impossible to treat. Keep affected areas clean and exfoliated and use specialized products to prevent any new formations.
