Control Acne: Treatment Concerns

Acne strikes people of all ages, skin types, and conditions. When trying to control acne, treatment concerns vary widely. For young females of childbearing years, some treatments are considered dangerous to unborn babies. For people with black skin, some treatments that work well on fair skin may be discoloring for black skin. Finally, if other skin or body diseases exist, the treatment for one condition can interfere with the other.

To control acne, treatment concerns must be addressed with your skin care specialist or dermatologist before you agree to a specific treatment. It's important to know that there is a wide range of treatments available so that one can use a different one if another might not be suitable for you. However, this is something that needs to be addressed in the consultation with your skin care specialist and often they know what treatments are best for what age group and type of skin. They will also review any medical conditions that might interfere with new medication.

It may seem odd, but some teenagers are put on birth control pills to help control hormone levels and thus the appearance of acne. Other times, they are put on these medications because they are also using something like Retin-A or Accutane, which can cause birth defect in unborn babies. However, there may be a potential that the more medication you are taking the harder it will be for your body to use either effectively.

If you are unsure of what types of treatment concerns are out there, research:
  • Acne treatment and pregnancy
  • Acne treatment information
  • Acne cure nature treatment

While trying to control acne, treatment concerns because of the sensitivity or type of skin you have or some other skin condition like herpes or eczema, you might want to try natural treatments. They are generally very gentle on the skin but can be quite effective for some people. For instance, people with black skin can use natural oils like avocado to deeply moisturize their skin. People with very fair and sensitive skin might try olive or almond oil natural products. Tea tree and lemon oil products also work well as antibacterial agents in the fight against acne.

To get a good idea on how to use natural products, such as Skin So Silky, as natural acne medication, be sure to go over all of your skin's needs, which can include exfoliation, astringents, topical antibacterial treatments, and moisturizers. Keep in mind that even with natural products to control acne, treatment concerns may still apply. Herbs and vitamins can still cause allergic reactions in some people or be harmful to developing fetuses in large doses (as in the case of vitamin A). Check with you specialist, naturopath, or physician before going on any treatment program.
