The Technology Of An Acne Treatment Laser

When lasers were first invented in 1960, their uses were not immediately apparent. No one could have foreseen at that time the creation of an acne treatment laser. Instead, the laser spent a bit of time in the physics laboratories before it finally made its commercial debut as the ubiquitous supermarket barcode scanner. Since then, the laser itself has gone on to be used in home electronics like DVD and compact disc players and laser printers. Its applications in the medical field have branched out from the treatment of vascular lesions like Port Wine stain and spider veins and eye surgery to hair removal and high tech acne treatments.

The acne treatment laser works by penetrating the top layer of the skin directly to the water underneath. It sends a pulse that heats the water and causes the collagen in the upper dermis to be affected in a manner that stimulates a healing response. The healing response initiates collagen remodeling which reduces acne lesions and remodels the skin structure making it look younger and fresher.

This provides the patient with:

  • Advanced acne treatment
  • An effective acne cure
  • Fast acne treatments
  • Acne treatments that work

The acne laser treatment still requires some precautions by the operating staff and patient. It is suggested that both the patient and the operator wear eye goggles to protect their eyesight. Darker skins may be slightly discolored for a few weeks, but this is typically temporary. Redness and tenderness can result from the laser treatment but this can disappear within a few hours. The procedure is considered safe and is done on an outpatient basis.

It's hard to believe that in less than 50 years we have gone from using topical creams and antibiotics to bringing in scientific apparatus to aide in the fight against acne. The use of lasers for acne is actually now 20 years old!

Some people might suggest that this is not a natural acne treatment, but it is using the principles of light and heat and is a very non-invasive procedure. Not only that, but the treatments tend to reduce scarring and rejuvenate the skin. Compared to chemicals that can be harsh on the skin and antibiotics, which might need to be taken internally, an acne treatment laser is a simple non-invasive method to reduce acne and its potential scarring effects. It can also be used with all natural produces to help keep the skin in top condition. Using essential oils like almond, avocado, and olive oil to moisturize the skin while undergoing can give you the best of modern technology and old world know-how. Check with your skincare specialist to see what natural products you can use while undergoing laser therapy.
